About Me

Before I was a psychologist, I was a teacher.

I spent years in primary school classrooms — in Australia and Singapore — watching children. The ones who were bright but couldn't settle. The ones who understood everything you said but couldn't get it onto the page. The ones who held it together all day and fell apart the moment they got home.

A teacher notices those children. But a teacher can only do so much.

That's what took me back to study — and eventually into school psychology, working alongside teachers and families in some of Sydney's leading independent schools. I ran anxiety programs, attention training, emotion regulation workshops. I learned how schools think, how they talk about children, and where the gaps open up between what a teacher sees and what a child actually needs.

I've been in private practice ever since — first on Sydney's Northern Beaches, and now on the Mornington Peninsula, where my husband and I moved to be closer to our grandchildren.

What I bring to the room

Thirty years of experience — across classrooms, school counselling, and private practice — means I've seen most things. But what I'm told parents notice most is that I don't just understand the clinical picture. I understand the school picture. I can read a teacher's report and tell you what it's really saying. I can sit with a child who won't talk and find another way in.

I'm a certified play therapist — which means I'm trained to work with children who don't yet have words for what's happening. I'm also a Gottman-trained parenting coach, because what happens at home matters just as much as what happens in the room with me.

I'm also a parent. And a grandparent. So when you sit across from me and try to explain what you're seeing at home — I understand that too.
